Agree on the salmon or tuna.

Tuna are within reach (25miles or less) pretty early this year and it is shaping up to be a great salmon season.

Ditto on Silver Creek State Park. Careful with young kids. It is a steep and hazardous hike through the falls area. There are accidents every year. I have been taking my boys there since they were 3-4 yrs old. Just be careful.

Look up Opal Creek Wilderness. It is some really great scenery and hiking just west of the Detroit.

Enjoy your visit..........don't let the door hit you in the ass!!

Can't believe how many winding roads that you can't see anything but trees then bam it opens up to the ocean or fields. Pretty country when you can see though.

Definitely if your get that far south. Only do the full day trip, because you run the whitewater.

It can be tough! I killed a bull about 15 minutes from Scio about 15 years ago, up Thomas Creek rd.

Here is a link about albacore and crabs out of Winchester Bay. I'd check Newport since it is closer to Scio.
