Not the best shot choice but man was it effective...
Goodness. Was that artery or heart. It didn't look like much penetration. But he bled out quick.
Holy cow! I've never seen anything like that. I'm glad it went good for him, but that shot should have never been taken at that angle.
that was awesome!!!

That was on the net some time ago. It hit the jugular and I believe on into the heart. The arrow buried all the way to the luminok, so I fail to understand the previous comment about poor penetration. It's not a shot I would take, but some say the frontal shot into the heart/lung area is as good as a broadside shot. I'll leave the shot to them however!
I would never take that shot. Too risky and don't know where to aim on that to get a confident hit. But if someone is comfortable then take it, just something I wouldn't do personally.

I've taken frontal shots with rifles before and never had but 1 run more than 15 yards (on deer). The 1 that ran was a poor shot to the side that hit between the shoulder and the vitals. That poor deer suffered until the next day when someone saw him on the property across the fence. I haven't taken a shot like that since. Frontal shots are extremely effective when hit in the right spot, but there is no margin for error.
I can say that is the most blood I've ever seen from a big game animal. Wow!
