their are alot of non res hunters looking for that mt emily..starky forest... walla wall and wenaha tags. wil little success due to the tag system.. not sure people know that some of those areas only do one tag for non res.. with it alternating every year to an outfitters.. tags like mt emily only have 2.. so everyyear one goes to an outfitter.. and one to a non res.. sucks.. I have friends with 16 now.. I am a resident of oregon.. took me 13 years to draw emily for bow.. worth the wait.. but a long one never the less.. I find myself wanting to go elsewhere now to hunt.. due to increasing cougars and no effort from ODFW to get them out.. wolfs are not as much of a prob as people think.. not in oregon anyway IMO.. but they are increasing aswell. game management in oregon has to be looked at.. althought everyyear I see very good caf numbers in a few units over east while spring bear hunting.. way more than years past.. and been seeing alot of better bulls aswell.. just my 2 cents is all.. good luck this year to all..

    Roosevelt Success

Hi Guys. Success!! Took my Roosevelt bull last Friday on a limited entry rifle hunt the day before the general archery season opened. I got my bull in a publicly accessible area with good road access and thousands of acres of BLM and privately owned timber lands. It took some work, elk densities are low, but still had several opportunities at bulls. There are better states to take a Rocky Mountain elk, but Oregon has some of the few good opportunities for a Roosevelt.

Hey Ryan, sounds like Oregon has it out for you. I grew up hunting the eastern side of the state. If you put in for a unit like the Malheur River unit or Beulah unit I could get you on some good mulies. Have had a lot of success in these areas.
