    NM ram

Found this ram this weekend while packing salt to the bighorn herd and posted him on a few sites to get a score opinion. As per state law we turned the skull over to NM game and fish so we will get an official number but what do you think? Nice ram for the Pecos!

I have no idea, but that's an awesome ram. Hate to see one go like that, but nice find none the less. Will you get it back, or do they keep it?

What a find! I imagine he died of old age. It will be interesting to find out what he scores.

The Game Dept will keep it, they sometimes sell the skulls after they are sealed and the money used for conservation projects.

Fabulous ram! I'd never pass him up no matter where I was hunting him. Appears to be about 11-years old with great character. As for score (which I wouldn't be worried about) a lot will depend on the bases. They don't look very heavy, like 14 3/4's or so. However, I think he may score 180+. Great find!

Awesome find! I would say upper 170- mid 180! Pure guess! Either way it was an amazing ram!

That's too bad you don't get to keep it.... But I do understand why they don't allow it. It would open the door to poachers to easily. Very cool find for sure.

    Smile

I'll guess 176. It's hard to tell how heavy he is. I'll probably be all wrong but here goes. He doesn't seem to be super heavy, but carries the mass he does have a long ways out. The curl also seems kind of tight. Really hard to say though from a pic.
I will say, I'd love to have him on my wall. They are pretty cool critters!

Looking at the side view he looks bigger. I can't make up my mind if he had a real tight curl or it just looks that way because he has a lot of mass. He's probably bigger than I think, but oh well, better than smaller I guess.

Whatever the score, that's a stud of a ram! I'm with mt-mike on the score and age; 11+ and about 180.
