I have a cheap Casio that works for me. I just have to make sure to take it off at night. If I wear it to bed I don't hear it, if I toss it in the hang bag above me in my pack tent it works fine.

I purchased a small digital alarm this year it has a thermometer built into the display and folds like an older Motorola razor phone. It did the trick for waking me up but it also woke up the deer that were in the canyon. 2 seconds after the alarm sounded I heard deer heading for the hills! Maybe there is a too loud of alarm line that that also should be considered
