i drew a blank!
Unsuccessful!! I am a first time Elk hunter and have no idea what to do now. Thought I had a special permit for sure with multiple bonus points for a breaks (which I have done a TON of research on) tag but I was wrong. Could any of you guys help me out with where I should go with a general tag? My ENTIRE game plan has been thrown off and I have no idea where to start. I live in western ND so I would like to hunt probably around central, south central MT. Is there any good public lands or general units around Bozeman? Seriously any help would be VERY much appreciated for this first time elk hunter. I prefer bowhunting but am not afraid to go with my 7mm later in the year if that is what is preferred. Thanks guys!
I would say head to the Big or Little Belt mountains. Plenty of access.

I agree with string music, big and little belts are easy to access for sure.
Those are great spots! Also look at the Bangtails and Crazies!
BTW,
Antelope is up, and I drew 1st choice! Finally some good news!
Draw results are complete.
Nice Mule deer buck tag, and i'll be bowhunting antelope with my 900 tag!
Going to be a great season.

Thanks guys! Is unit 392 the Big Belts? I'm guessing that area is heavily hunted since its close to Helena but thats ok with me as I usually try my best to get as far from the roads as possible. I've never elk hunted before and am used to strictly spot and stalk (muleys and antelope). Is this area more for spot and stalking or do I need to be really good with a call? From the research i've done so far it seems like the Big Belts are more spot and stalk friendly due to more open areas as where the Little Belts are pretty heavily forrested? Thanks again guys, every piece of info is EXTREMELY appreciated!!!
No Antelope or Elk for me. Deer B is it.
And my Brother didn't draw anything at all.
Bummer.
Can you handle the challenge.... hunt hard but safe!!
Anyone looking for a guided hunt can PM me for details, have spots for elk, deer and combo hunt.
Thanks!
Brian
