I would pick 5 days in September. Bear always closes early, most of the times by early October.

I found that out the hard way. I hunted 4 hours before the quota was reached.

You best have an archery elk tag or you are not allowed to hunt bear in September! Last week of August is the general bear hunt. Most units were closed by the second week of archery.

Amazing so many tags are filled so quickly. I will hunt spring bear on the Jicarillia in april. Only large bear are out at that time of year, also should just be boar.

I am looking forward to a spring bear hunt beginning may 20. I will try to find a color phased bear I saw last year.
