Fall Bear Hunt

We just returned home from Northern Saskatchewan in pursuit of fall black bears. After hunting hard for 5 days I was able to connect on this nice coal black bear with my bow. My cameraman Nate Simmons captured the entire hunt as it unfolded with the digital video camera. The hunt was a great time with wall tents, bush planes, small boats and big lakes…another true northern adventure put into the books for a future episode of Eastmans’ Hunting Journal TV on the Outdoor Channel.

3 pieces of gear you won’t want to skimp on when heading deep into the backcountry.

When gearing up for a hunt deep into the backcountry the required gear list can be extremely lengthy and could easily constitute a small fortune. For those of us who are not a direct relative of Warren Buffet here is a list of the three areas you won’t want to economize on in your hunting arsenal.

Titan of the Tundra

Cameron, Dad and I have just returned from Quebec, Canada where we had an unbelievable hunt for Quebec Labrador caribou. After filling both of our two tags on P&Y bulls, Cameron and I put on the film crew uniforms and headed out into the tundra to film Dad’s hunt. After a close encounter that all but panned out with a truly magnificent animal with his recurve bow, Dad was lucky enough to find the bull traveling through the area again three days later and this time he would not be duped by the huge northern monarch.
