Titan of the Tundra
Sep 01 2006
Cameron, Dad and I have just returned from Quebec, Canada where we had an unbelievable hunt for Quebec Labrador caribou. After filling both of our two tags on P&Y bulls, Cameron and I put on the film crew uniforms and headed out into the tundra to film Dad’s hunt. After a close encounter that all but panned out with a truly magnificent animal with his recurve bow, Dad was lucky enough to find the bull traveling through the area again three days later and this time he would not be duped by the huge northern monarch.
After a shot from a .243 short, he was able to knock the big bull down for good and into the record books. After running a rough tape over this bull’s huge rack, we came up with a very green rough score of over 450-inches. That’s right, this bull could score over 450 Boone and Crockett points, putting it up at the top of the book and possibly into the top ten all time. What a gorgeous animal and not a bad birthday present for Dad either, as he turned 58 years old the previous day.
Thanks to Cameron’s hustle and speed over the tundra we actually filmed the hunt from two different angles with two different cameras. Be sure to check out the TV show schedule on eastmans.com later this fall because you surely will not want to miss this episode!
I will talk to you next week with another update as I am headed out for a bear hunt in Saskatchewan, RIGHT NOW!
