Jan 28 2009While at the Denver ISE show this past weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down and chat (interview) with Charlie Meyers who is an outdoor columnist for the Denver Post newspaper. Charlie is a wonderful guy with a very soft spoken demeanor and some very tough questions. The headline on the story ended up reading, “Eastman decries big-money hunts”. Charlie wanted to know my thoughts on some very controversial subjects in the hunting world, and with well over 20 years in the newspaper business, he certainly knew how to ask the hard questions. The link to the article is: http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_11546434 . I guess you can read if for yourself and see if I am on the mark or off base with my ideals and convictions. I once heard somewhere that, if you don’t stand for something you stand for nothing.

Getting ready to lecture in Denver
Denver ISE-
Jan 28 2009We finally made it home from the Denver ISE show. The roads through Wyoming were pretty nasty after the snow storm that hammered us on Sunday night. As for the show, it went great. It’s always nice to spend some quality time with our members and talk about hunting. I met some great new folks, saw some old friends and heard some of the ups and downs from the fall season. Thank you to all of you who attended my lecture, I hope you enjoyed the content and it was a pleasure to have you there for that very short hour. The crowd was super and very inspiring. Both Cameron and I had huge crowds on Saturday afternoon. Thanks to all who attended. My next stop on the tour will be Salt Lake City in March. I think with my few weeks off, I might head back to Montana and continue my pursuit of a big cougar. I’ll keep you posted on that ever ongoing endeavor.

Learning to field judge mule deer in Denver
Sacramento ISE-
Jan 28 2009I would like to send out my deepest apologies to those of you who came to the show to attend my lecture. I came down with a horrible case of food poisoning in Orlando and could not get on the plane on Thursday morning. I tried to get out of bed that morning by my stomach just wasn’t having any of it. I hope I didn’t disappoint too many of you and I look forward to catching up with you again next year. Maybe I can do a double lecture to make it up.
