So much catching up to do here…let me see, where did we leave off. Ahhh yes, the Wyoming high country mule deer hunt. Where do I start…it was the 22nd of September and the snow was coming down at a blinding pace, covering the high country wilderness of Western Wyoming. Thankfully, due to my father’s advice I was in my living room watching it on my computer instead from beneath my hat. You see, when you grow up in that area you learn real fast to WATCH THE WEATHER REPORTS! Nate my camera man and I decided to wait out the storm and head back into the wilderness once the weather cleared. I have been reading some hard-core mountaineering books as of lately and the one thing they preach constantly, is to watch the weather reports.

“How do you understand my frustrations by Your statements you don’t understand what is going on and are stupid. and you sound like you work for the government. the states DON’T have the right to discriminate. The land belongs to all Americans not just people in that state. where do you think the money comes from to buy the equipment your wildlife department uses. dam sure don’t come from people from Wyoming. the city I live in is bigger population then your state, meaning we buy more (in taxes)for your state then you do. why don’t each state just not pay those type taxes and see if you still think its fair. when you don’t have any federal money because Wyoming don’t have a big population. when your roads, bridges and signs all deteriorate and you run out of game. I think that would be what you deserve.
that federal land belongs to all , not just Wyoming residents, ALL. the way your state and the rest of the western manage game states is selfishly wrong. we all also pay for your wildlife managers to screw us nonresidents.
what goes around, comes around. one day you may not like the way the game management is set up, fairly. I have 2 U.S.Senators that feels the same way I do and are looking into a way to change it.”

We are loosing our rights to hunt big game in all the western states. States are taking over our rights as the real land owners and regulating mostly for residents. No one seems to mind. Organizations such as SCI, Rocky Mt. Elk and NRA better realize what is happening. There is a decline in hunting each year, yet all people say is “take a kid hunting.” What we need to say is “go to college, get an education and make a lot of money because its about big bucks.”

I just saw your internet column posting on the “double-fake” elk being sent around cyberspace as a supposed new world record.While interesting,what really caught my eye were your strong and unashamed comments against “game-farms” and in support of fair chase hunting. It reminded me of why myself and so many other hunters support Eastman’s in every way we can. You guys have carried the banner high for fair chase hunting for as long as I can remember and this hunter is very grateful to you for it.
