Hi Guys! My husband & I have very much enjoyed watching your programs on the Outdoor Channel for several years. I am and avid hunter who grew up in NW Montana and truly believe that hunting (the way you guys do it) is an integral part of life! I hunt EVERY chance I get. I am slightly(I feel) handicapped by congenital birth defects in both feet, but they have never stopped me. I have been out bow hunting & rifle hunting with casts, canes, crutches etc.! I have had surgeries now that have really helped and look forward to many years ahead of improved access to places I didn’t think I could go. Especially now that we have moved to Alaska!!! I am going to miss the Antelope & Mulies of Eastern Montana though….they have been my favorite hunts. What I would like to know is why you guys have only ever shown one program (at least that I am aware of) with a woman hunting? I KNOW that I am not the only one who is as crazy about it! It seems as if maybe you think we gals are not interested? My husband & I have the best time together on our hunts & I’m sure other women could be encouraged to go out.

Dena,

Thank you for watching our TV show. I happy to hear that your are getting around better now. Wow, living in AK must be incredible for someone who loves to hunt as much as you and your husband! Keep me posted on how your hunts go up there. We are going to be airing a great elk hunt on March 9th, 10th, and 12th, with a good friend of Eastmans’, Lisa Endicott. She is a diehard bowhunter that owns a archery pro shop with her husband Wayne out in Oregon. We are excited about having her as a guest on the show and look forward to doing more shows with women hunters in the future. There is finally beginning to be some pretty good equipment out there made specifically for women hunters and is making it a lot easier for women to get more fired up about getting into the sport. Who wants to do something that they can’t get the right gear for anyways? Women and youth hunters are critical to the overall health and growth of the sport and we realize this and want to do what we can to encourage this vital growth. Look for more shows with women in the future as well. Thanks for sending the email, we love getting feedback. Good luck this fall!

  1. Hi Nate
I’m planning a public land elk hunt in CO this September and in looking back thru soem old edtions of the magazine an article that you worte caught my eye. In the Nov-Dec ‘08 EBJ article “Gearin’ Up for the Backcountry” you listed a copule of promising packs (pg 68) Janassen’s Hard Core Hunt Pack, Eberlstock’s Dragonfly , Blue Widow, and Mystery Ranch’s Crew Cab. Do you have any contact information for the manufactures or website addresses. I’m have difficulty locating them .

    Tks GT
