  1. Nate,

Loved the blog. I can relate to you when it comes to getting your hunting gear stolen. I am active duty army stationed in Texas, but my home is Wyoming. On an antelope hunt this last year my brother, father and I all had a great deal of things stolen from the back of my truck during breakfast. I loaded the truck for a bit of a late start to a day of bow hunting in one area for my brother and gun hunting for my father in a separate area, just to discover that the truck bed was half empty just 30 minutes after it was loaded. All together we lost probably 1500 or so in equipment to include the bow I bought for my brother while I was in Iraq, all our ammo, cleaning supplies and all my muzzle loading equipment (except my TC Triumph in the cab), Montana decoys, all my bow tuning kit… I mean tons of stuff. Including some antique fishing gear my Dad had collected.

Thank God the trip wasn’t ruined as they didn’t take the really important stuff out of the cab and only took some of what was in the bed of the truck. The trip ended well as my father took his first buck antelope, my brother took a great looking 75 B&C buck opening day of rifle (hard to hunt without a bow), and I managed another 75 B&C, all from public land, DIY in Wyoming.

I am out of the hunt for this season as I am off to Afghanistan tomorrow and won’t return until next July, but I have the EBJ and EHJ to keep me company and keep the fire burning hot! I can’t wait to get back to Wyoming to pursue the animals I love!

  2. Hey Jeremiah,

At least both of our trips ended well despite all the crap that was stolen. I’m still discovering stuff that was taken in the two totes I had crammed with camping gear but it sounds like the crooks got you worse than they did Aaron and I. Aaron was seriously about ready to beat someone when he found out the steaks he had been marinating for days had been taken off the camp menu…it wasn’t pretty. Send me some photos of your hunt some time when you have a chance, I would love to check them out. Thanks for serving our country man. I take off for a deer hunt here in a couple weeks and I will think of all the guys that have forfeited their hunting season to defend our freedom to live the great lives we live here on our own soil.

    Take care,

    Nate

  3. Nate,

Good to hear from you. Hopefully your hunt went well. I have been busy here in Afghanistan, but I managed to get some time to upload some of the pics to my facebook account. I believe that you and I are friends on facebook, so check it out if you get a chance.
