Every mule deer hunter dreams of one day taking a buck that breaks the 200 inch mark, but no one expects it to happen with a bow. The same way I never expected it to happen on the last day of Arizona’s 2016 OTC archery season. In Arizona we are lucky enough to get to hunt mule deer in select units during most of December and all of January. As some may know, down here south of the Grand Canyon our deer don’t rut until the end of December and into January, putting this archery season smack dab in the middle of the rut. Two States, Four Days
Only 10 minutes went by and a deer was on his feet headed down the hill. Brian asked for a range and by the time I was able to give him a number, the deer was at 400 yards. Brian put the .308 to work and dropped his buck.
