Every year I work hard to be my most effective in the field. A large part of that is knowing where to start. One of the tools I use each year are navigation applications. Being able to effectively navigate in the most remote places in the world has come very far in a short amount of time. Now, I am no expert when it comes to the technicalities of navigation but I do know what tools are required. Just like building a fence, you need wood, nails, and a hammer to get the job done. BaseMap, onX Hunt, and Gaia Maps are the applications that I have found to be most effective when it comes to mapping a hunting area out. Before my hunting seasons, I am E-Scouting like crazy to have a plan for where I want to be, come opening day. I have used and tested these applications extensively in the past year in different ways. All three are powerful tools that have provided helpful insight into new areas I wanted to explore.
