Wyoming Elk Outlook And Overview

The Winter Of 2016 Was A Particularly Rough One For Wyoming. With Record Setting Snow Packs And Prolonged Very Cold Temperatures The State’s Wildlife Suffered Immense Damage. One Of The Lone Exceptions To This Problem Was Wyoming’s Elk Herd.

Wyoming’s Elk Herd Continues To Be One Of The Bright Spots For Wildlife Management In The Cowboy State. The 2016 Hunting Season Was One Of The Best On Record For Elk Hunters In Wyoming Who Managed To Tag More Than 11,000 Bulls For The First Time In More Than 15 Years. Not Only Did More Hunters Kill Bull Elk Than Almost Ever Before, But Hunter Success Was Also At A More Than Five-Year High Averaging Over 43% In The Limited Quota Elk Areas Statewide.
