In The Part Of The World That I Come From, Central Saskatchewan, Bowhunting Big Mule Deer Is Done A Little Differently. At Least For Me, Because It Presents Some Challenges To Bowhunting You Don’t Necessarily Find In Other Regions.


For One, The Landscape Is Notoriously Flat With Not Many Vantagesyou Can’t Climb A Hill Or Mountainside, Spot Your Target Deer, Watch Him Bed Down, Then Make A Plan Of Attack. Here You’re Not Often Much Higher Than Eye Level With Crops Looking For Velvet Antlers Protruding Above. I Often Sit Atop An Old Broken Down Combine Just To Gain Some Height To Do My Glassing.
