The magnificent bull stepped out behind a cow, his attention on another satellite bull. He was still covered by her body, so no shot. His attention remained on the other bull, and he and I began a dance, moving in and out of shooting lanes until he finally stopped at 61 yards. With an adjustment to 53 yards for the steep slope, and the bull staring directly at me, I released. It felt perfect until that last moment when the bull bent his knees and dropped his belly toward the ground and the arrow sailed two inches over his back. Miss!
